Little Bit Me, Little Bit You Too

by | Mar 5, 2020

One of the hardest things about being a writer for me is losing my anonymity. I’m not one who craves attention or even likes it. Someone else can be the star of the show. I’d rather stay in my hole in the ground like Bilbo Baggins while others go on adventures. But like Bilbo, this introvert is practically forced into the limelight. Thus far, this journey has been challenging but with surprising rewards and blessings which I can hardly fathom.

So this INFJ has had to learn how to market herself and her books. I thought writing was just about creating stories and honing my craft, but it’s so much more. I’m willing to sacrifice a bit of my privacy so others may experience my worlds and love my characters and stories as I do.

The exposure of my personal life doesn’t stop there though. My stories show glimpses or rather for me a penetrating gaze into my life. This is especially true with my new series coming out in April, Melanie on the Move. When talking with my friend, she asked which character I was most like and I said that I was a combination of all of them, which is true. But later, I remembered which character I had fashioned after myself and it wasn’t Melanie.

As I continue with this effort to be more open, I was hoping that I could ask a favor of you, my readers and supporters. When I share a little bit about me, would you share a little bit about you too? I would love to know about you. I’m hoping that most of these discussions can happen on my Facebook page since it is easier for me to respond as well as see your posts. Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/jdrempel/

Looking toward the future, I’m planning to post articles about my thoughts, games, book reviews, and some discussions about my stories. So to begin, I “borrowed” most of the blog title from one of my favorite bands. I was going to say one of my favorite childhood bands but I love them still. Some of my favorite bands/singers are The Monkees, The Carpenters, Amy Grant, Leslie Phillips, and White Heart. My favorite band of all time is The Waiting. (I love Christian rock music.) Now it’s your turn, who are your favorite bands and singers?

I love that your sharing your self through writing. I love music I’m not too familiar with names or band names, I like oldies Carlos Santana , country but my life today I really enjoy listening to worship music Mercy Me ,Jeremy Camp, Natalie Grant

Thank you, Maria. I forget band names too. It’s always the songs which I remember. In celebration of Lent, I’ve added worship music to my quiet times. I’m enjoying it so much I’ll probably continue with the practice. (I’ll just need to buy some more worship CDs.)

My friend….actually my BESTIE, if you are allowed one of those at age 60, told me about you! She is so proud to know you from her college days and is now so proud to say you have been PUBLISHED! I have some desire to write children’s books, but just cannot seem to get going. I have many pieces and parts, just getting them put down and stitched together seems to be daunting in my head. Perhaps, it’s just LAZY. Anyway, so looking forward to seeing where you go and who you touch. Blessings.

You must be a sweetheart because your bestie is such a sweetheart. I don’t recommend becoming an author unless you have a passion for it. It’s a very difficult business. There are things I love about it which I’ll be sharing in another post soon, but there are many obstacles too.

I love the Monkee The Carpenters as well there’s so many more that I can’t remember but I love Christian music more than I do anything

Yes, I love Christian music too! When we were first married, my husband and I went to Christian Rock festivals and concerts all the time. I really miss it.

Courage doesn’t mean not being afraid. It means doing the right thing in spite of your fears. I admire your courage in starting this.
